Quote:
"Goals give you more than a reason to get up in the
morning; they are an incentive to keep you going all day.
Goals tend to tap the deeper resources and draw the best
out of life." - Harvey Mackay
"Only a very small percentage of the population are pro-active in
their lives, that is they go out and make things happen for themselves.
They could not be achieve this without having a plan or a clear course
of action. If your actions are wholly dictated by others or if you tend to
go where life blows you, then you are not in control and are not in a
position to manage your life or the use of your own time.
In order to greet each
day with excitement and enthusiasm, you need to formulate clear and concise destinations or
goals, which are both positive and fluid. It will also help you to use your
time more effectively and not just allow it to pass idly by.
Remember that goals should respond to what you want most out
of life. Also remember that we do not live in isolation, goals could also
have some bearing on what you want to see happen in the world. We
may not be able to affect world events but in our own way we can
influence others for the good of all.
Bear in mind that successful people plan to succeed. Without
goals, people drift in the direction that others dictate. It is not enough
to say you want to earn more money – you have to know why; what you
will use it for. We all think that we need more money. But do you?
Have you enough for the type of life style that suits you. More money
will not in itself make you any happier; are there other achievements
that would suit you more? Think of the big picture - where would you
like to be and with whom in a few years time.
'Happiness' as such cannot be a goal; the happiness comes in
achieving our dream or goal, in dealing with any problems along the
way, in learning the skills necessary - but within your own values. It is
possible to be happy in whatever you are doing, by carrying out a task
to the best of your ability and by understanding why you are doing it.
